Our Jamaican adventure has gotten off to a great start! We met at FBC and left at 4 AM… yes, that
was 4 AM! Our flight was great, and we
had no trouble moving through immigration and meeting our friends from Port
Antonio Baptist Church who were waiting for us.
We loaded the luggage into one van and ourselves into
another for the ride from Montego Bay to Port Antonio. We stopped for a great lunch at the Ultimate
Jerk Center, and continued the approximately 4 hour drive.
After checking into the hotel and getting settled, we headed
to Port Antonio Baptist Church for dinner and fellowship. Before dinner the kids went into the
sanctuary and rehearsed some of their music.
Several ladies of the church prepared spaghetti and meatballs and
freshly baked banana bread. It was
delicious and greatly appreciated! Then
some of the church members and their young people shared with us about Jamaican
culture, history, music and dance. We
learned a few of their songs and dances, and ended by singing a prayer chorus
together.
Back at the hotel, Christian and Mary Anna Caldwell led us
in a devotional based on the song “In Christ Alone”.
For the newcomers, today was just a taste of what is in
store for the next few days. For others,
it was a treat to see old friends and renew acquaintances with the people of
Port Antonio Baptist Church. Thanks for
your continued prayers and support!
